About Kursten
I have 10 years of experience teaching and coaching swimming (8 of those years in paid positions), working with students of all ages and skill levels. I was also a competitive swimmer for 14 years, which has given me a strong technical foundation and a deep understanding of the sport. My approach to teaching focuses on creating a safe, supportive environment where both students and parents feel confident and trust me in the water. Water safety is my top priority for every student. I teach at each individual’s pace while still encouraging them to challenge themselves, try new skills, and build confidence. While water safety is my primary specialty, I also have strong experience in stroke development, technique improvement, and competitive swim training.
I am a competitive swimmer and have taught swim lessons for about 10 years.
