About Awra
I am a film and media lecturer, artist, and writer with experience teaching undergraduate students at Temple University in Philadelphia. My background is in English, film, media studies, and critical writing, and I enjoy helping students build confidence in their ideas and communication skills.
I work with students across different levels and learning styles, and I aim to create lessons that are supportive, engaging, and adapted to each individual. Alongside tutoring, I continue to develop my own research and teaching practice through film, writing, and public programming projects.

I am an experienced educator, lecturer, and facilitator with a background in literacy teaching, essay writing support, film and media studies, and critical thinking. I have taught undergraduate students at Temple University in Philadelphia, as well as delivering literacy interventions and one-to-one support in UK primary schools and community settings.
My lessons are supportive, collaborative, and adapted to each student’s individual needs and confidence level. I specialise in helping students strengthen essay structure, written expression, reading comprehension, and analytical thinking across English Literature, Media Studies, and humanities subjects.
I work with GCSE, A-Level, and undergraduate students, as well as students preparing personal statements or university applications. Lessons are usually 60 minutes and can be tailored depending on the student’s goals. My approach focuses on building confidence, clarity, and independent thinking in a calm and encouraging environment.
