About Dheekshitha
About Me
I’m a Health Sciences student at the University of Ottawa with experience teaching, mentoring, and working with children and youth in both academic and community settings. I currently work as a Math and Reading Instructor at Kumon, supporting students of different ages, abilities, and learning needs. I also volunteer with Let’s Talk Science, where I lead hands-on STEM activities for children, and with Learning Buddies Network, where I have experience mentoring young learners in reading and literacy. I have also taught English to newcomer adults, which strengthened my ability to explain concepts in different ways and adapt to each learner. I’m patient, friendly, encouraging, and genuinely enjoy helping students become more confident and independent in their learning.

I currently work as a Math and Reading Instructor at Kumon, where I support students of different ages, abilities, and learning styles. I can bring the same methods into my private lessons by breaking difficult concepts into manageable steps, encouraging students to attempt problems independently, identifying where they are struggling, and providing guidance rather than simply giving them the answer. I also use repetition, practice, and positive feedback to help students build confidence and become more independent learners.
