About Angela
I’m an experienced educator with over 25 years’ experience in teaching and education, including around nine years working with university students. I currently support both undergraduate and postgraduate students with academic skills and writing, and I particularly enjoy helping students develop confidence in their own abilities.
I have extensive experience supporting international students and students who use English as an additional language. I enjoy helping students make sense of academic expectations and seeing them become more confident and independent in their writing.
I hold a Master’s in Teaching Literacy and Language from UCL Institute of Education, postgraduate teaching qualifications in ESOL and Post-Compulsory Education and Training (PCET), a CELTA and a Certificate in Teaching Basic Skills. I also have a degree in Politics with Sociology and am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
I want to offer private tuition because I really enjoy working individually with students and having the time to focus on their particular needs, whether they are tackling their first university essay or working their way through a postgraduate dissertation.

My lessons are friendly, supportive and tailored to your individual needs. We can work together on your essay, report or dissertation, focusing on the areas where you would most like support. This might include understanding an assignment brief, planning and structuring your work, developing critical writing, literature reviews, academic style, paraphrasing, referencing or editing and proofreading skills.
I have particular experience supporting international students and understand the challenges of studying and writing academically in an additional language. My aim is to build your confidence and give you practical strategies that you can apply independently to your current and future university work.
