About Jeff
JLA Music is a comprehensive music services company that provides music lessons, singing telegrams, live special occasion music, recording, music engraving, music transcription, audio production, and other services. JLA Music has been in business for more than 50 years. Jeff Anvinson, the owner of JLA Music, has broad experience in music as an educator, performer, arranger, composer, conductor, music engraver, music transcriber, writer and music critic, audio and video recording engineer and producer, and more. He has performed live hundreds of times in the U.S., China, and Canada, taught more than 27,000 individual lessons and 160 sections of classes, and provided numerous other services. He studied orchestration with Pulitzer-prize-winning composer Dominic Argento and performed in a master class led by multi-Grammy-Award-winning guitarist Sharon Isbin. He has taught at universities, public schools, community education programs, commercial music stores, and in private practice. His recordings have been listed with iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, and elsewhere. He creates and releases instructional videos on his website. He has created hundreds of arrangements and many compositions for a wide range of instrumental combinations, including chamber orchestra, wind ensemble, duos, trios, solos, and others. After study at three universities, he earned both bachelor's and master's degrees in music. He has published more than twenty articles in several periodicals. He distributes and promotes the guitar compositions of Brazilian composer Ernst Mahle.
Plain and simple, I just love music! Because of this, and a strong personal ethic of treating people well, my enthusiasm is expressed in my work and play. For example, I base music lessons on your goals, with an eye to covering the fundamentals that are important for your unique situation. My business model is not just based on profit, but more imporantly on doing the right thing, which includes great customer service.
When I was an undergraduate music major, I was hired to teach a classical guitar student, which was a virtually unheard of - in other words, university teachers virtually always have advanced degrees, yet I was fortunate to be asked to teach without yet even earning a degree.
I have studied music at three universities, earning two degrees (master's and bachelor's) and two certificates (management/supervision and classical guitar). My teachers include a Pulitzer-prize and Grammy-award winner. Over four decades in the music business, I have taken workshops, tutorials, and other educational opportunities too numerous to list.

Teaching more than 27,000 inidivudual lessons and 160 classes has introduced me to an incredibly wide range of students - from those who were interested in hip hop, to serious classical players, with pretty much everything in between

Details
My standard fee is $21.80 per half-hour lesson. However, I am mindful of the budgetary restraints that some people face, so I am happy to negotiate a fee that works for your financial situation.
