My Approach to Tutoring As a psychology graduate with clinical and educational experience, I take a student-centred and adaptive approach to tutoring. My teaching is informed by an understanding of child development, learning styles, and emotional well-being, which allows me to create a supportive and structured learning environment. I teach using a variety of techniques including: Scaffolded learning, where complex tasks are broken into manageable steps. Active recall and spaced repetition, particularly for spelling and exam preparation. Interactive exercises like storytelling, games, and timed challenges to keep younger learners engaged. For CV writing and older students, I use model answers, structure templates, and one-to-one editing support, with real-world examples. Lessons are typically 60 minutes long, though I offer shorter 30-minute sessions for younger learners (age 5–7) to suit attention span and stamina. Sessions are tailored to the student’s pace, needs, and goals, with regular feedback provided to both learners and parents. I have: A First-Class Honours BSc in Psychology from Brunel University London. Experience as a student development trainer and assistant psychologist in NHS mental health services and schools. Worked with children aged 5–16 across a range of academic and personal development topics. I teach: English and Spelling for ages 5–13 (KS1, KS2, 7+, 11+ exam preparation) English language support for non-native speakers CV writing and personal statements for students and early-career professionals My goal is not just academic success, but also building confidence and independence in each learner.
