About Huw
I'm Huw — a specialist tutor with a focused practice in GCSE Maths. I work principally in this subject because depth of expertise matters: students deserve a tutor who knows the syllabuses inside out, understands what examiners are looking for, and can explain difficult concepts in multiple ways until they click.
I have many, many years of teaching and tutoring experience, and am qualified with a PhD in Molecular Biology and a PGCE in Secondary Science teaching. I can provide many excellent reviews upon request.

My approach is structured but responsive. Every student starts with a diagnostic session to identify exactly where they are and what's holding them back. From there, sessions are built around their specific syllabus, their gaps, and their timeline. I believe every student can improve significantly with the right support. Most problems can be solved if you apply yourself wisely. The goal isn't just to get through the content — it's to build the kind of genuine understanding that holds up under exam pressure.
Fundamental to success in this approach is the building of a good rapport between myself and the student. This is the foundation for one-to-one tuition.
