About Nozibele
I am a native isiXhosa speaker, an applied linguist with a Master’s degree, and a former university lecturer. For twenty years I have developed a spoken isiXhosa corpus, recording and analyzing real language use. I teach isiXhosa because I want learners to experience the language as it is truly spoken — rich, cultural, expressive, and deeply connected to everyday life.

My lessons are unique because I teach isiXhosa using real spoken language, not textbook phrases. With applied linguistics expertise and twenty years of corpus research, I help learners understand authentic patterns, natural communication, and meaningful cultural context that truly builds confidence and fluency. To Whom It May Concern
I am Sinethemba Nomdebevana, a former student at Pretoria Boys High School. In my final two years of school, I studied Isixhosa under the guidance of Nozibele Nomdebeva and achieved a high passing grade.
I recommend Nozibele Nomdebeva for future students. She has a thorough method of teaching which allowed me to quickly grasp Isixhosa in writing and speaking.
Nozibele's efficiency also allowed me creative use of the language in such a short period of time. Not only is she a good educator, but also one who appreciates the personal input of her students.
Kind regards,
Sinethemba NomdebevanaI've known Nozibele since 2010 when I worked under her great leadership and mentorship. When we met, I had no idead what transcribing was, and she took her time to teach me and show me how it's done, and today I am making a living from the transcribing skill that she transferred to me. This shows what a great teacher she is. She is also an excellent academic and researcher who has initiated and led a number of linguistic research projects, specifically in her home language, IsiXhosa (Xhosa) which she has a great passion for. Her kindness and willingness to share information makes it easier to work with her.
Nozi is an expert in Isixhosa, a seasoned researcher and linguist. Her students will learn not just the language but African culture, especially the culture of Xhosa-speaking people in South Africa

My standard rate is R200 per hour for South African students. For international learners, my rate is 20 USD per hour. My lessons are corpus‑based and often extend naturally due to student interest, so hourly pricing ensures flexibility and depth. This structure allows me to support both local and global students while keeping my lessons accessible and aligned with each learning context.
I also offer specialized isiXhosa lessons for academic and research purposes. African languages are increasingly taught in universities in the UK, USA, and other regions, and my corpus‑based approach aligns closely with academic standards. These lessons focus on authentic language patterns, pragmatic meaning, cultural context, and real speech data rather than textbook examples. For instance, when teaching clicks, students learn them through real contexts, frequency, and natural usage. Because academic lessons require deeper linguistic explanation, corpus analysis, and extended discussion, they are charged at 25 USD per hour.
