About Derek
I am a passionate Maths tutor with over 10 years of teaching experience and a BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science. I have worked with school and university students from different academic backgrounds. My focus is on helping learners understand Maths deeply and communicate their ideas clearly. My teaching approach in Maths focuses on building strong understanding step by step with clear explanations and practical examples. I teach school and university Maths along with algebra, calculus, SAT Maths, elementary and middle school Maths. I also include data interpretation, graphing techniques, statistical analysis, and understanding numerical trends for research and real-world use. My lessons combine deep problem analysis with structured data exercises so students learn how to think, not just memorise. I break complex ideas into small, simple steps. I use charts, tables, and visual examples to make numbers easier to understand. I support students who feel nervous about Maths and help them become more confident with practice and patience. I challenge learners with analytical thinking tasks to improve quantitative reasoning skills. We work on real exam questions and assignment problems together. I give regular feedback and encourage students to reflect on their mistakes and progress. My sessions are organised, interactive, and focused on long-term academic success. My goal is to help every learner develop strong analytical skills and achieve excellence in Maths and data-focused subjects.
