About Carlos
Hi, I'm Carlos! I have a Ph.D. in Education and an (All-But_Dissertation) Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering - that only means I love learning and I love teaching others ! I've taught university engineering students for around 6 years and I have tutored students for around 3 years.
I enjoy finding out ways to have students learn math, physics and Spanish topics in a way that interests them. I believe math and physics are everywhere in nature and in how lives (in the clouds, the water, and even in your coffee cup). I like creating a warm and friendly environment with empathy and human connection in my classes. I like to understand my students needs and curiosities so I can help them connect the material they are working on with what they are naturally interested in. I enjoy helping my students take the next step into their journey of discovering or creating something (outside if the word, or in themselves). I think of my self as a mentor, a tutor a facilitator rather that someone lecturing about something.
In my previous role as a university professor, my classes were fun and professional and my student evaluations were above 3.4/4 - which is an excellent score. I have tutored high school students in math and physics for a few years with excellent reviews. I enjoy helping students in all possible ways and watching them grow!

My lessons are designed to help you achieve your overall goal which may be improve grades, fill gaps, understand better, connect with the subject better, build confidence, and/or enrichment.
I design each class to achieve your overall goal and an specific objective. Our objective can be:
- General learning: Have you understand, learn and do 1, 2 or 3 specific concepts or types of problems.
- Homework Help: I'll help you complete and understand your homework.
- Test or Exam Prep: I'll help you prepare for your exam, specially in those hard-to-understand topics.
- AP Deep Dive: Let's work deeply on and thoroughly on a set of problems for your math, physics or spanish AP class.
- Exploration: Have you explore a topic in math, physics or spanish that you'd like to learn more about. This is a freer class, based on your interests and curiosities.
My lessons have:
- simple and fun examples
- go from simple to more complicated concepts
- uses the problems that you will likely find in your homework and exams
- uses animations and diagrams to facilitate understanding
I have been a university professor or teaching assistant for 6 years and will use all my experience to facilitate your learning.
