About Brian
I’m very low-stress and believe in the importance of mentoring and building rapport, not just “teaching.” I’ve taught a lot of subjects to a lot of very different people, and I’ve found that the best way for them to succeed is to first understand them and their background, the way they communicate and learn, then slowly guide them to the answer, using a modified Socratic method. Students, particularly children and young adults, don’t learn unless they first believe that you believe in them, and that you truly enjoy seeing them succeed.

I have always loved teaching, particularly the sciences, math, and history, and I’ve been very fortunate that my career path has allowed me to serve as a mentor and instructor in a very wide range of capacities. While waiting to start flight school, I assisted teaching elementary school children in Florida. After my first deployment, I earned my instructor qualifications both on the ground and in the air, which allowed me the very rewarding opportunity to teach younger pilots and young Marine ground troops. Most recently, I served as an instructor at the Marine Corps special operations schoolhouse, where I had the very unique challenge/opportunity of meeting young Marines from very diverse backgrounds (lawyers, mechanics, finance specialists, etc.) and training them in the fundamentals of aviation and aviation tactics.
