About Winta

I am currently a final year Biomedical sciences student, passionate about learning and helping students achieve their greatest potential. For the past 3.5 years I have been working as a Saturday school Tutor, assisting 10-17 year olds with all things biology, chemistry (and also some maths)! I've been able to build a rapport with many of these students over the years, watching many of them grow and improve in subjects they once struggled with.

I like to give more personalised lessons to students. I know it's important that young people learn in a way that suits their learning style, and more importantly meets their needs based on what they're struggling with most.
My method of tuition generally looks like the following:
1) Prior to the lesson: I ask students what they're currently learning in school, how they're finding it, and if there are any areas they do not understand.
2) Drawing towards these target areas, the topic is explored further, identifying key points that appear difficult to understand.
3) A largely interactive lesson, where the student is able to ask questions freely as I teach.
4) Doing a quick-fire quiz or active recall. This gives students the opportunity to recall what I've just taught towards the end of the lesson. Active recall is a perfect, but also fun way, of stimulating memory during learning. It is also indicative of whether students have truly understood what's been taught.
