About Sophie
I am currently in my final year of university studying to become a doctor. The reason I love to teach comes from the simple fact that knowledge is power. I believe that all children, regardless of their background, gender or social status, should have access to education.
As someone who received private tutoring as a child, I thought that this was useful for my academic performance. It also inspired me a lot of confidence during school lessons which is something that I would like to instil in all of you guys as students!
My passion for teaching is ongoing, and I would love to be given the opportunity to help students develop not only with respect to their academic performance, but help them grow as a person.

My approach to tutoring is largely shaped by the students themselves! I have been a private tutor for GCSE students in my spare-time for 2 years, and I have learnt from the few students I have taught that it is not a 'one-size-fits-all' approach that works. My teaching methodology has thus varied from simply explaining textbook concepts, to trialling practice questions from various different online sources and eventually building up to timed mock exams. The typical length of the lesson can vary between 1 to 2 hours, however this is largely dependent on the level of concentration of the students and the quantity of the content to teach within every lesson.
As mentioned above, I have tutored Biology and Chemistry for GCSE students in my spare-time. As well as this, I have been employed my companies such as Tutors United to teach children of different ages from disadvantaged backgrounds. I continue to work on my teaching skills by volunteering in my spare time as a medical student to help colleagues excel in medical school examinations.
The lessons that I provide would be for students between year 9 and 11, to study GCSE Biology.
