About Joshua
I am a Texas-certified Special Education EC–12 teacher, certified since 2013, with additional certification in General Education History for grades 9–12. I am a graduate of Texas Tech University with a degree in Political Science, which supports my instruction in World History, U.S. History, Texas State History, and Government. As a former special education student myself, I bring unique insight, empathy, and patience to every session. I understand the challenges students with learning differences face, as well as the needs of general education students who may benefit from extra support. My passion is helping all learners build confidence, develop effective strategies, and gain the tools they need to be successful in the classroom and beyond.

I am a dedicated and patient educator with extensive experience supporting students with diverse learning needs across all grade levels, from kindergarten through high school. I specialize in special education with a strong focus on life skills and individualized instruction for students with special needs, helping learners build confidence, independence, and academic success at their own pace.
In addition to my special education background, I have taught social studies and history at the Monarch Institute in Houston, Texas, an educational environment specifically designed for students with neurological differences. This experience strengthened my ability to adapt complex content into accessible, engaging lessons that meet students where they are while encouraging critical thinking and growth.
I hold a degree in Political Science, which provides a strong academic foundation for tutoring government and civics. My professional experience is further supported by my work staffing a congressional campaign, giving me firsthand knowledge of government processes, civic engagement, and real-world political systems—insights I bring directly into my tutoring sessions.
As a former special education student myself, I bring a unique level of empathy and understanding to my work. I know firsthand the importance of patience, flexibility, and trust in the learning process. I understand when to step back and give a student space, when to provide encouragement, and how to make learning both meaningful and fun. My goal is always to create a supportive, respectful learning environment where students feel safe, motivated, and capable of reaching their full potential.
