About Lance
Math, especially Algebra is a very highly focused subject that can be often abstract and occasionally practical.
I like to reinforce study with as many examples as possible using numbers.
Don't be surprised to deal with concepts of finance, business, economics, physical science, and other real-world examples.
I hope to create a relaxed dinner table conversational atmosphere that prevents the subject seeming threatening or confusing.
Sometimes, I find it best to move quickly over a topic, other time to drill over and over again on one thing (multiplying negative numbers for example).

A fellow student joked that I always need a place to draw out my explanations. Tables and graphs are tremendously helpful to visualize mathematical ideas.
I also draw on a musical background from childhood, so I know the value of taking time to repeat work multiple times, and to go about solving example problems in multiple pathways.
It may seem straightforward, yet people hold back on waiting until the night before an exam to review their math homework. In other subjects such as English Literature, Foreign Language, and Life Sciences, they start early and read ahead of the class schedule.
It is okay to learn math ahead of the class schedule.
