In our first lesson I like to spend a significant amount of time in a consultation manner speaking to the student and their parent(s) (Can exceed 1hr but will be free of charge) to have a clear goal/vision of what the student wishes to achieve and understand where the student is currently.
Based on the outcome of our consultation I will create a learning plan comprised of the following:
- Structured timetable & revision plan for the student to follow
- Tasks to complete before each lesson
- Tracker to assess progress and evaluate next steps
My tuition service is not only to teach the student the subject, but to also remove the heavy administrative tasks behind studying such as timetables, trackers and action plans so that all of the students' time is spent meaningfully on studying.
This provides value to the students by allowing them to have some extra free time that they would not normally have to relax the mind and balance their studies, as rest is equally important!!!
My teaching method is built on PBL (Problem based learning).
It is statistically, and in my experience, the most effective way of mastering the understanding of any science discipline.
I plan my lessons directly in line with the specification/syllabus for the exams being sat.
I use a plethora of exam questions and worked solutions with students to teach the content of a topic and give the student the necessary application of their studies.
I will prepare you for exams by teaching you more than just the content of a subject but the hidden tricks and tips behind cracking exam papers.
Since 2017 the government have reformed the specifications of all GCSE/A level so that they are now linear, this means your teachers will not have time to teach you a topic a second or third time after it was first taught.
This leaves many students at a disadvantage but with my proven methods I can guarantee if the student puts in the work with me and sticks to our tailored plan, we can achieve amazing results together!
