About Sean
English is essentially the subject of communication. Students often struggle with NCEA English because they feel unsure of themselves and what is expected of them. I take a concrete approach that gives students a structure they can understand when developing their essay writing skills ensuring they achieve passing marks, this allows us to build on the more creative and critical aspects of their writing so they can achieve merits and excellences.
I'm always excited to hear about my students getting marks they didn't previously believe they could achieve. typically my students start in year nine and will stay in my tutoring schedule throughout all their years of high school. it's exciting to see their success and watch their confidence and love for English grow.

Each lesson is tailored to the specific needs of each student and typically is one hour long. Building from my vast work experience in mental health and education, I focus on building my student's sense of confidence and self-efficacy. I do this by providing clear structure and explicit advice on the construction of essay writing, as well as guiding students through fun and stimulating analyses of literature. I have a long history of supporting students who struggle with learning disabilities like ADHD or Dyslexia and have a lot of success in supporting students seeking extension into scholarship ENGLISH.
