About Laura
Hi, I’m Laura! I graduated with a first-class MSci in Physics, focusing on Astrophysics and I’m now pursuing a PhD in Physics Education Research at Imperial College London. Over the past 7+ years, I’ve been tutoring Maths and Physics online, helping students gain confidence and achieve their goals. I love teaching because I enjoy breaking down complex ideas into clear, simple steps and showing students that they can succeed in subjects that often seem intimidating. Tutoring also lets me share my passion for science while supporting students individually, something I found rewarding even back in high school when I first started tutoring. My aim is to create lessons that are interactive, encouraging and tailored to your needs whether that’s preparing for GCSEs, A levels or just boosting your confidence in Maths or Physics.

My tutoring is tailored to each student. I focus on building a strong understanding of core concepts, using clear explanations, worked examples and lots of problem practice. I adapt my methods to suit different learning styles, whether breaking topics into simpler steps, using visual aids or guiding students through exam-style questions. Lessons are typically 1 hour, though I also offer 90-minute sessions if needed. I keep them interactive, encouraging students to ask questions and think critically rather than just memorise. I hold a first-class MSci in Physics and am currently completing a PhD in Physics Education Research at Imperial College London. With over 7 years of online tutoring experience, I’ve helped a wide range of students—GCSE, A-level and university entrants gain confidence and improve their results. My lessons are for secondary school and sixth form students (ages 14–18), especially those preparing for GCSEs, A-levels or aspiring to study STEM at university.

I am writing to provide a reference for Laura Schlueter, who I can confidently recommend as an outstanding Physics and Mathematics tutor. Laura is a highly capable and enthusiastic educator with an excellent academic background in Physics and extensive experience supporting students
of different ages and abilities.
Laura recently completed an MSci in Physics (First Class with Honours), and she is commencing a PhD in Physics Education Research at Imperial College London. Her strong academic foundation is paired with a genuine passion for teaching, which is clearly reflected in both her tutoring and
wider educational work.
Throughout her time in the UK, Laura has gained substantial tutoring experience, including working as a Physics and Maths tutor, and she continues to work as a tutor while also contributing as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Imperial College London. She has consistently demonstrated the ability to explain challenging concepts in a clear, structured way, and she
adapts her approach to suit each individual student.
One of Laura's greatest strengths is her communication and empathy, which make her especially effective with students who may lack confidence or feel anxious about STEM subjects. She is patient, supportive, and encouraging, while also maintaining high expectations and motivating students to succeed. Laura's excellent problem-solving skills and analytical thinking allow her to break down difficult problems into manageable steps and teach students how to approach
questions independently.
Laura is also highly organised, reliable, and professional. She prepares thoroughly for sessions, ensures students understand both the content and the method, and helps them develop exam technique, confidence, and consistency. Her strong interpersonal skills and leadership experience
further show her ability to engage students positively and build trust.
In summary, I strongly recommend Laura Schlueter for any role involving Physics and Mathematics tutoring. She is academically excellent, dedicated, and a gifted tutor who genuinely
helps students progress.I know Laura from working closely with her at Imperial College London, where her dedication to both physics and education was immediately clear. Although she holds a Master’s degree in Physics, her true passion has always been teaching - a commitment strong enough that she is now pursuing a PhD in Physics Education Research. That alone says so much about her: she isn’t just an expert in the subject matter, she is actively studying how to teach it in the most effective, engaging, and supportive way possible.
As a tutor, Laura brings a rare combination of deep academic knowledge, patience, and a genuine enthusiasm for helping students succeed. Her teaching style is thoughtful and adaptable; she has an exceptional ability to explain complex ideas in ways that feel intuitive and approachable, no matter your starting level. She listens carefully, adjusts her methods to each student’s needs, and creates a learning environment where you feel comfortable asking questions and exploring ideas.
I recommend Laura wholeheartedly to the Superprof community. She is trustworthy, exceptionally skilled, and truly cares about the progress of the people she teaches. Anyone looking to improve in Maths or Physics - whether they’re aiming to build confidence, strengthen fundamentals, or push toward top grades - would be incredibly fortunate to learn from her.View more recommendations
