About Samuel
Hi! I'm Sam, a British pianist and music teacher with a Bachelor’s degree in Music and a deep passion for helping students find their unique voice at the piano. I’m currently an international school music teacher, and I’ve taught students from all over the world – from complete beginners to advanced learners. My lessons are patient, friendly, and tailored to each student’s goals, whether you're learning for fun, for exams, or for personal growth. My background is rooted in jazz and improvisational piano, but I also specialize in: Classical piano - grades 1-5 Meditative and ambient piano – calming, soulful playing for relaxation and emotional release Music theory and ear training – to build a strong foundation and real musical understanding Whether you're looking to play your first song, relax at the keys after a long day, improvise freely, or prepare for ABRSM exams, I’m here to guide you with encouragement and clarity. Music is not just a skill – it’s a form of self-expression, and my goal is to make it accessible, enjoyable, and meaningful for you.

The lesson pace and speed is totally up to you. If you want to learn how to play your favourite pop song - send me the song name and artist, and within 1 hour I will have listened to it and can teach you it.
If you want to learn an ABRSM grade 1 piano piece for example, or need tips for the exams- I can guide you using my 10 years experience in helping students pass the exam.
Now, for my personal favourite - jazz and blues- if you want to learn some super jazzy chords - like diminished, altered, inverted, 7ths, 9ths, add ons - please let me know and my eyes will light up. Ever since I was about 10 years old I have listened to and attempted to transcribe and replicate many of the great jazz composers and pianists, such as errol garner, bill evans, wynton kelly, oscar peterson, barry harris, the list goes on.
If you want to learn Jazz and blues, you're very welcome. I also will teach you how to improvise and make a song yours. It's one thing to play a piece of music from the sheet music - but to actually 'play it' - ie putting soul, emotion, your own personal style on it - that is a very different thing altogether.
