About Ahsan
Hi, I'm Ahsan, a first-year Optometry student at De Montfort University. I studied A Level Biology and Chemistry myself, so I know what it takes to prepare for these exams and how challenging some of the topics can feel. As a student ambassador at my sixth form and a mentor in our dissection club, I've worked with lots of different students and enjoyed helping them understand difficult ideas. I want to teach because I love explaining Chemistry clearly and seeing students grow in confidence. My lessons are friendly, interactive and focused on helping you reach the grade you're aiming for.

My approach and techniques:
My lessons are interactive and exam-focused. Rather than just explaining content, I ask questions, work through problems with you and make sure you can apply what you know. Each lesson is built around your needs, so we spend time on your weak areas, whether that's difficult topics like respiration, genetics and immunology, or exam technique such as reading command words and structuring long-answer questions. I use past papers, exam-style questions and mark schemes throughout, so you become familiar with how marks are awarded and how to avoid losing them. I also give regular progress updates on what we've covered and what needs more attention, and you can message me with questions between lessons if you get stuck.
Lesson length:
Lessons are typically 60 minutes and held online.
Qualifications and experience:
- A Level Biology (B) and Chemistry (A), and GCSE Maths (grade 7), with experience of AQA examinations
- Currently studying Optometry at De Montfort University, so I work with biology and human physiology every day
- Student ambassador at my sixth form, where I worked with a wide range of students and learned to explain things clearly and adapt to different learning styles
- Mentored students in a school dissection club, helping them understand biology through hands-on learning
- Experience supporting friends, family and my younger brother with A Level and primary-level work
- Enhanced DBS checked
