About Hritika
I am a first-year student at the University of St Andrews, studying International Relations, Modern History and Sustainable Development. My degree places a strong emphasis on analytical writing, evaluation and argument, skills that are central to success in History.
Having recently graduated high school with A grades in History across the three levels has given me an understanding of how demanding these courses can feel, as well as up-to-date knowledge of SQA course specifications, mark schemes and examiner expectations. This allows me to target exactly what is required for success at each level.
I aim to be an approachable and patient tutor who explains material clearly and adapts explanations until they make sense. I also focus on helping students plan essays, analyse sources and structure arguments so they can communicate their ideas effectively in written answers.

My lessons are structured, supportive and exam-focused, designed to help students understand historical topics clearly and apply them confidently under exam conditions. Sessions combine explanation, guided practice and discussion so students develop understanding rather than rely on memorisation. Particular emphasis is placed on practising exam-style questions and learning how to approach them effectively, so students can turn their knowledge into well-structured, high-mark answers.
• Each lesson is tailored to the individual student, taking into account different learning styles and levels of confidence.
• Students are provided with structured notes, essay plans and PowerPoint materials to support learning and revision between lessons.
• Complex topics and interpretations are broken down into clear, manageable explanations to build understanding step by step.
• Focus is placed on developing analytical writing, essay planning, constructing arguments and evaluating different factors and sources.
Overall, lessons are designed to help students feel prepared, confident and in control when approaching essays, source questions and assessments.
