About Elise
I am a passionate flute tutor with 16 years of experience teaching high school, college students, and adults. Over the 16 years, I have taught around 300 students, helping them develop technical mastery, musical expression, and confidence in their abilities. My teaching philosophy revolves around creating a supportive, engaging, and interactive learning environment where students feel encouraged to explore their musical potential. I focus on tone, technique, rhythm, music theory, and performance practice while incorporating creative exercises and real-life examples to make learning both enjoyable and meaningful. I believe that learning the flute is not just about mastering notes, but also about cultivating discipline, confidence, and a lifelong love for music.
Many of my students have performed in school concerts, college events, and competitions, achieving milestones that reflect their growth. I tailor each lesson to suit the individual needs, goals, and learning style of each student, ensuring steady progress while keeping the journey fun and inspiring. My goal is to help students discover their unique musical voice and enjoy every step of their learning journey while building skills that last a lifetime.

My teaching approach for flute focuses on clarity, adaptability, and real-life application. I aim to create a positive learning environment where students feel supported and confident.
I communicate flute concepts such as breathing techniques, embouchure control, finger accuracy, tone clarity, and rhythm in simple terms. I adapt lessons using demonstrations, listening exercises, and hands-on practice to match different learning styles.
I use real-life musical examples and case studies from concerts and recordings. This helps students understand how flute techniques work in real musical situations.
Along with flute instruction, I teach music theory, rhythm exercises, ear training, scale practice, sight reading, and basic performance skills. I also guide students on effective practice routines and musical expression.
