About Gurkiran
Hi there! I’m Gurkiran, a University of Toronto graduate with a major in Health Policy and minors in Biomedical Ethics and Health Humanities. I’m passionate about helping students strengthen their academic confidence and communication skills through supportive, engaging lessons.
My teaching approach focuses on clarity, patience, and personalized learning. I work with students to improve their writing, grammar, reading comprehension, and essay organization, while also helping them think critically and express their ideas with confidence.
I create a warm, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring new concepts — whether it’s for English, Health Studies, or essay-based subjects. My goal is to make learning enjoyable, relatable, and rewarding.

Hello! I’m Gurkiran, and my approach as a tutor focuses on making learning interactive, encouraging, and personalized. I believe that every student learns differently, so I take time to understand their strengths, challenges, and interests before tailoring lessons that make sense for them.

Whether we’re working on English writing, reading comprehension, grammar, or essay organization, I make sure students feel supported and motivated every step of the way.
A Typical Lesson
Each lesson begins with a quick check-in to review past material and set goals for the day. Then, we dive into focused activities — like writing prompts, reading discussions, or grammar practice — followed by hands-on examples and reflection. I always end with feedback and simple takeaways so students know what they’ve accomplished and where to grow next.

My background in Health Studies and policy also helps me connect academic skills with real-world topics, encouraging critical thinking and curiosity.
