About Penelope
I have been playing violin for 27 years and have extensive working experience with teaching violin and viola for the last 14 years. I am also a classroom music teacher of 8 years where I have completed my Bachelor of Education degree in primary teaching.

Hi, my name is Penelope and thanks for stopping by =) I teach different styles of music with violin - including classical, country, folk, Irish and Celtic. I begin teaching students with plucking the strings and then progressing to the bow. This way students are able to develop their fine motor skills with the left hand and concentrate on their intonation and then later develop the correct position in holding the bow and playing correctly. I also support students through AMEB examinations by working towards developing their selected pieces of music along with their theory and aural training. I always ensure lessons are enjoyable and interesting and that students remain focused while being conscious of their technique and posture, as this is very important when playing the violin correctly.

Perfect! Wonderful tutor ! Great communication with my 8 y o daughter , fun class with full focus on technique, great choice of study books that are relevant to her level - exactly what I was after. Thank you , Penelope , looking forward to seeing your, as always, twice a week.

The way she produces her notes is beautiful but needs to further work towards her wrist technique when playing with her bow.
