About Holly-Eve
As former student of an academically driven grammar school, I grew up knowing very little about the abundance of incredible careers a study of Art and Design could lead to.
Since leaving secondary school in 2015, through hard work and determination, I have since gone on to:
- Gain a Distinction in a Diploma in Foundation Art & Design
- Study Design for Stage and Screen for 2 years as a Production Design student at the Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Dun Laoghaire
- Work with incredible film and theatre makers as an Art Director on over 10 short films, music videos and advertisements over a 2 year period
- Gained 1 of 4 'Engineer of Imagination' internship places with world renowned street performance group Macnas
- Gained a place at Ulster University to study Architecture

First and foremost, my intention is to help you reach whatever goal you have through a study of Art & Design.
Do you want to apply for Art College?
Great! Lets figure out what course you want to study, then look at any work you have to date as a starting point. There are a wealth of paths for us to take. You may just need some small practical tasks that will result in a handful of strong art pieces to fill some holes in your portfolio. Or you may just need to rejig the layout of your work so that your portfolio is clearer to read! Don't worry if you have next to no work at all and are starting form scratch. I will create custom projects, briefs and timetables with you based on your personal interests and style. In the end, we will find a way to make a custom portfolio that best suits you, and shows off the skills that your chosen course are looking for!
You don't know what course is right for you, but still want to apply for Art College?
Great! We can still use these processes to develop your skills and style. Through this you will create work with which you can apply to a selection of great Foundation Art courses. These courses are tailor made to give you a taste of many different disciplines with in the art world, so that you can make an informed choice when the time comes to apply for a specialised course! I strongly recommend considering them.
Do you simply want to improve your Art & Design skills?
Great! We will figure out what aspects of your practice you are struggling with and find some exercise to help you. A study of specific artists, movements and themes relating to your interests along side practical exercises help also.
Extra information on my fundamental approach to tutoring:
When I was a young student, in my GCSE and A-Level Art & Design classes, we were expected to trace images so that student work would always look anatomically accurate, and or as close to photo-realistic as possible. This was to make sure we got top grades and therefor kept our school high on league tables. I left with those top grades, but with deep insecurity in my ability to draw on my own. It look years of training under incredible tutors to unlearn this conditioned, crippling insecurity.
My early negative experience and later studies with amazing tutors, inspired me to help aspiring artists and designers in any way I can. In the end, the most important thing I want to help you with is confidence in your own ability to make work you are proud of.
