About Jaiz
I have always enjoyed math. From a child calculating how much change my mother would receive when she bought something at the grocery store to calculating the stresses and strains of the wooden bridge I built as part of a competition in high school, math was fun and challenging. I leveraged my love of math to receive a BS in civil engineering from the University of Virginia in 2005. After that I continued to use math for 14.5 years as a transportation engineer.
After leaving the engineering field, I became a teacher and taught STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) classes at private elementary and high school. The classes taught included biology, engineering, algebra, geometry and trigonometry. This sparked my love of helping students and enjoying the process of watching them understand and start to love math like I do.
Lastly, I also have experience tutoring students in math during the school's lunch period and helped them improve there grades an average of 2 letter grades. I really enjoyed the small groups of 3 to 5 students where I could further positively impact their learning. I look forward to helping your child as well.

My teaching method is practice, practice, practice! Helping students understand concepts and then complete plenty of practice problems is the best way to learn math. The goal is to help my students to not just learn a concept until they get it right, but to help them learn it so well to where they can't get it wrong. My lessons cover all math from basic arithmetic to trigonometry.
