About Kathleen
When I turned 19, I began a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in which I was going to live in Cusco, Peru and serve among the locals. Before I left for Peru, I lived in Utah for some training in the language, where I learned to speak Spanish in 6 weeks. There I created a solid foundation with vocabulary, grammar patterns, reading and writing, so that when I got to Cusco, I was able to adapt to their accent, culture, and way of speaking. I also work for a law firm in Arizona as a translator, and it has expanded my horizons for reading and writing in Spanish. When it comes to teaching experience, I have also been a private violin teacher for 4 years now, and I have found that teaching music and teaching language are two very similar trades.

I can help tutor any junior high or high school Spanish students! I can teach grammar patterns, vocabulary, and memorization techniques. After living in Peru for 18 months, I also speak very fluently and can help a student get live conversation practice. I can teach accent reduction as well, so that my student's Spanish sounds as accurate as possible. One on one Spanish tutoring from me will further a student's progress in the classroom and help them to speak Spanish that they feel comfortable using past high school.
