French classes with sought after, very experienced French native tutor based in London. All lessons are tailor-made (based on your language needs). Online and face-to-face lessons available.

I have worked with Stephan for almost 10 years. We have worked together in different ways, from conversation practice when I'm preparing for an interview or work trip in French, to having a more casual exchange about a topic in the news. We have also focused on grammar and written French. The content is very flexible, from reading an article to watching a video in French and discussing it afterwards.

I would highly recommend engaging with Stephan for French tuition, whether it's exam preparation, moving to a francophone country, or maintaining your French skills. He is very approachable and professional and can adapt to whatever you need to work on.

Looking forward to the continued collaboration with you, Stephan!

I've known Stephan as a teacher and friend for over 30 years. As a native speaker, he has taught French around the world and really knows his stuff in terms of different teaching methods. He's great fun but also professional, taking his work very seriously.

I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with Stephan Toqué for many years. We worked together on many occasions, including on a high profile programme for British civil servants posted to the European institutions at the time.

He is a reliable, punctual and conscientious French teacher with outstanding pedagogical skills. His deep love of, and appreciation for, the French language, together with his accomplishments as a poet, reflect an exceptional command of the language and its nuances.

Being fluent in two foreign languages himself, he has first-hand insight into both the challenges of language learning and the cultural dimensions that accompany it.

With extensive teaching experience, he has taught specialist French to a wide range of City professionals and diplomats, while also successfully preparing A-level students for their examinations.

I therefore have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending him to any student seeking an experienced, knowledgeable, dedicated and kind French teacher.

I have had the pleasure of working with Stephan as my French tutor for nearly three years, beginning as a almost complete beginner. Over this period, his guidance has been instrumental in my progress.

From the outset, he took the time to understand my individual learning needs and tailored each lesson accordingly, rather than following a rigid, one-size-fits-all curriculum. His teaching approach was thoughtfully varied: he combined a range of learning materials — textbooks, video clips, listening comprehension exercises and other media — to keep the lessons engaging and to develop my skills across reading, writing, listening and speaking.

He patiently guided me consistently and encouragingly throughout, creating a supportive environment in which I felt comfortable making mistakes and learning from them. This steady, considerate approach made a real difference to my confidence and motivation over the years.

In summary, he has been an excellent, dedicated and adaptable tutor, and I would recommend him without hesitation.

Stephan is a very considerate and passionate teacher. He finds interesting ways to develop your language while engaging you on the newsworthy topics of the day. Stephan is very good at finding the balance between demanding grammar exercises and more convivial reading and oral exercises. I have been a student of Stephan's for several years and consider him a friend.

Stephane is a resourceful and student centred teacher who is able to empathise and put himself in the shoes of any learner. I can attest to his ability to match the learning style of each person and I have observed his flexibility in terms of choice of materials and activities as his language training supervisor for large training projects in the Corporate and public sectors. I believe that learning with Stephane is an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

Stephan and I have been colleagues for many years. As a tutor, Stephan is resourceful, always well prepared, keen on researching new teaching approaches/materials, and has consistently received excellent feedback from his students. He is tactful and has a very pleasant manner which is very much appreciated by his students. His lessons are enjoyable as well as informative. I would like to confirm that I can strongly recommend Stephan as a Super Tutor without any reservation.

I highly recommend Professor Stephan to anyone looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable French tutor. From the very first lesson, he created a comfortable and encouraging environment that made learning French both enjoyable and motivating.

One of his greatest strengths is his patience. He takes the time to explain concepts clearly, answers every question thoughtfully, and adjusts each lesson to my learning pace and goals. His polite and friendly approach made me feel comfortable speaking French without worrying about making mistakes, which significantly improved my confidence.

What truly sets him apart is the support he provides outside of our lessons. He regularly shares a variety of carefully selected resources including articles, videos, podcasts, grammar exercises, and vocabulary materials that help reinforce what we've covered and make it easy to continue learning outside of class. It's clear that he genuinely cares about his students' progress and invests time in helping them succeed.

Each lesson is well prepared, engaging, and personalized to my needs. He provides clear explanations, constructive feedback and every day examples that make even challenging topics easier to understand. His teaching style keeps lessons interesting and comfortable, while ensuring steady progress.

If you're looking for a French tutor who is knowledgeable, patient, encouraging, and truly invested in your success, I can recommend Professor Stephan without hesitation. His professionalism, personalized approach, and genuine passion for teaching make him an exceptional tutor, and I've greatly enjoyed learning with him!

Stephan has been my teacher for almost 4 years now and I couldn't recommend him more!
He listened to my needs and adapted along the way, which resulted in dynamic classes with excellent results. Not only I got a remarkable grade on my exam, but also I now feel comfortable speaking the language and keen to keep learning to an advanced level.
For those interested in enjoying the process and getting results, Stephan is the teacher for that.

Genuinely fantastic - couldn’t be more thankful for Stephan’s flexibility, patience, and enthusiasm

I have chosen Stephan as my French tutor because our lessons are designed to suit my needs. Others may lean towards more traditional methods of teaching which don't always work for me. I also need a teacher with patience who can explain things to me so that I understand. Those type of teachers are hard to find so when you do find one, you stick with them.

Stephan was my tutor when I lived in London. Stephan was a very thorough tutor who took the time to develop a plan for success at the beginning of our time together. Every lesson was prepared in advance and Stephan took the time to explain key grammatical concepts thoroughly. I would highly recommend Stephan to aspiring French learners.
