About Blanche

In high school, I did the literature section of the French Baccalaureate, in which the primary focus is the French language and literature. I then received a Bachelor of Science in Experimental Linguistics from University College London with first class honours. At UCL, I taught weekly French lessons to my peers. I then did a Masters in Linguistics at the University of Cambridge, and graduated with an average of 73%.

About the lesson

To me, successful language teaching must combine a rigorous teaching of grammar and vocabulary with a lot of natural conversation and practice. My academic background gives me the necessary knowledge of grammar and language teaching theory to efficiently teach grammatical concepts of varying complexity. The first part of the class will often be focused on one of these concepts, with accompanying custom-made exercises. In the second half, I make my students practice the acquired grammatical concept in conversations inspired by real life situations based on the level of the student (e.g. ordering food at a restaurant, having a business conversation, having a debate about a specific topic), with an accompanying vocabulary list. I also like to choose simple texts from classic literature that featured the grammatical construction or vocabulary that was studied, to add a cultural aspect to the language learning experience.
