About Zoé
I am a third-year student in a Dual BA program between France (Sciences Po Paris) and Canada (UBC), with a focus on social science and humanities subjects, currently studying international relations and journalism at UBC. I grew up in a trilingual context (French, Swedish, English) while also having extensive experience in language learning myself (Spanish and Mandarin), which makes me very familiar with both the tutor and student side of things! Previously, I have tutored both native and non-native speakers of French in various settings and at various levels. I also have a solid background in humanities subject and essay-writing, having studied two years in a social science university after spending my high school years in a rigorous bilingual dual education French-English program in Singapore. I am very used to working with kids and teenagers through my previous experiences as a scout leader and homework tutor.

My teaching style would be very adaptable to the needs of the student. I am open to following the relevant curricula for specific French certification if you seek to follow one but can also be inventive to create engaging approaches to languages. A typical lesson would include more more targeted and rigorous aspects to capture the challenges of the language (grammar etc) as well as a broader way of looking at French culture and literature as a source of interest and engagement. Most of all I am familiar and experienced with various contexts of ease regarding language learning, whether the student is a native speaker, a non-native speaker or simply struggling with keeping up with French due to other aspects of life being dominated by English . I am teaching students from ages 6 to 18 but am open to teaching adults as well. As we start our lessons together we will come up with a plan of your goals regarding French language learning to come up with a class plan that meets your expectations and helps you achieve your goals!
