About Iain
I have had great success with current and former tutees using my motivating and organised approach. It is easy to fall behind and feel lost when learning maths, so I work with students at their own pace and build up subject confidence carefully over time. Ultimately,the student will do the learning; I am just here to help make that happen!

Having come to study Maths after having left school, I recognise how frustrating it can be to study the subject. But don't worry, I can help!
My experience as a classroom Secondary teacher has given me excellent skills in diagnosing where students need some extra help and my style of teaching will ensure you can replicate skills months down the line rather than forgetting ten minutes after the lesson.
I mark for one of the four main exam boards in the UK which has given me great knowledge of what is required in exams, particularly with the recent changes to the GCSE Maths curriculum.
I have experience helping prospective teachers pass their numeracy QTS skills test and would be happy to help. I also have recent experience with Functional Skills Level 1 Maths, with both Edexcel and City & Guilds.
My aim is to increase your ability and confidence as a learner of Mathematics so that you only need me to check your own work and, ultimately, so you wont need a tutor at all. I provide weekly bespoke homework for my students which cumulatively builds their subject knowledge and ensures previously learned skills do not disappear.
I consider myself to be a patient, friendly tutor but also systematic and professional. I simply love to see progress in others!
