I am an enthusiastic and positive PhD student in chemistry who loves problem-solving, chatting and teaching all things science! I have taught students for the past few years, and I have really enjoyed getting to know each and every one, helping them improve in any way that I can. I am an experienced and supportive Chemistry tutor with a BSc, Master’s degree and PhD in Chemistry and Chemical Biology. For the past four years, I have taught both foundation-level and advanced chemistry, including supporting students with additional learning needs.
My one-hour lessons are friendly, structured and tailored to each student. I break challenging topics into clear, manageable steps, use real-life examples and practice questions to reinforce understanding, and adapt my explanations to suit the way you learn best. My aim is to make chemistry clear, manageable and interesting, especially when a topic initially feels difficult or overwhelming. I understand that every student learns differently, so I adapt the pace, explanations and activities to suit each individual.
Lessons may include reviewing key theory, working through calculations, practising exam questions and improving exam technique. We can cover topics such as atomic structure, bonding, quantitative chemistry, energetics, rates, equilibrium, acids and bases, organic chemistry, analytical techniques and practical skills. I can also help undergraduate students strengthen their understanding of more advanced concepts.
I create a patient and positive learning environment where questions are always welcome and mistakes are treated as a valuable part of learning. We will regularly check your understanding and revisit difficult areas until you feel confident.
Whether you are preparing for an examination, struggling with a particular topic or hoping to achieve a higher grade, I will tailor our lessons to your goals. My objective is not only to improve your chemistry knowledge, but also to help you become a more confident, independent learner.
