I strongly believe that one-on-one tutoring must be a responsive, ever-evolving process, led by the student and their unique abilities, interests, and goals. For this reason, my approach to tutoring always begins with carefully listening to and learning about my student, and from there crafting a personalised program of teaching.
I have been very successful academically, achieving 13 GCSEs all grade 7 or above, 3 A* A-Levels, and a First Class History Degree from the University of Bristol. My skills lie mainly in the clarity and fluidity of my writing, which was commended particularly in my final year 10,000 word dissertation, which was prize-winning, and is being published online by the university.
I have worked as a volunteer tutor with the charity Jacari, which seeks to provide additional academic and pastoral support to the children of refugees or asylum seekers. Also, in my 6 years of nannying experience, I have very often provided homework help to the children I look after. Tutoring is something I enjoy doing, and know I am skilled at. Parents have spoke of me as a role model for their children.
I am offering lessons to students of any school age. I would feel comfortable teaching spelling, Literacy, English Literature, English Language, and History. If the specialism you require is not listed here please feel free to get in touch with me and I will consider your request.

Maisie is a highly personable, engaged, and conscientious individual. She is able to both think critically, and communicate clearly, to a wide range of audiences and I have no doubt that she will make an excellent tutor. I was her dissertation supervisor for the History BA at the University of Bristol, a unit that Maisie shone in, receiving one of the highest marks in the year. She was always ready and willing to contribute to tutorials and offered thoughtful and nuanced verbal insights. She will be able to apply these skills – including her excellent grasp of literacy – as a tutor. Maisie also demonstrated a confidence with public speaking and oral communication. On this dissertation course, students were expected to present their research to peers on two occasions. She was able to tailor her research findings to the audience and offered insightful feedback to other students. She was a pleasure to teach.
Maisie has babysat for our daughters for approx 6 years. During this period we have got to know Maisie very well. She is an excellent role model for our children, offering knowledge and support to them whenever they see her and helping them with their schoolwork in a fun and friendly way. When our eldest daughter was due to start high school, Maisie spent time talking her through what to expect when the new term starts, building her confidence and reducing nerves and concerns. Maisie has a unique skill in making everyone around her, no matter what age they might be, feel at ease and understood. We can vouch firsthand for Maisie’s excellent skills at tutoring.
