About Robbie
I am keen to teach students of any ability in a range of subjects. I loved what I studied at both school and university and have a passion for passing this on.
I recently graduated from the University of Oxford with a 1st class degree in Experimental Psychology, Philosophy and Linguistics. These subjects, and related areas such as biology, are my focus but I can teach cross a number of different subjects and especially like to bring an inter-disciplinary lens to learning wherever relevant.
I have worked as both a personal tutor and a mentor for younger students. I like to make learning as engaging and enjoyable as possible to suit the needs of the student and have found that patience and understanding go a long way in helping students build confidence and overcome learning challenges. If a student has any particular learning differences of difficulties then just let me know and we can try and find the best approach that works for you.
Access to engaging, personally tailored support can be incredibly important for fulfilling a student's potential and achieving academic goals. I believe every student deserves the same opportunities and quality of education I had.
Tutoring can be adaptable, focusing on short term revision for exams or longer term improvements in certain subjects and skills.
I have a range of interests outside of academics, including sports and drama, and hopefully look forward to meeting you soon!

Robbie was an undergraduate mentor for a student at the access charity IntoUniversity under my supervision in my capacity as Senior Education Worker and Mentoring Coordinator. Robbie is a bright student with good people skills and quickly built a strong rapport with his mentee, and tutored him in a range of subjects. Robbie's degree in neuroscience-heavy Psychology combined with Philosophy and Linguistics meant he was well placed to tutor in a range of both scientific and humanities subjects. Robbie was a reliable mentor and an excellent source of social and academic support for his mentee.
I was Robbie's supervisor and tutor during his degree at the University of Oxford. Robbie completed his final year project in my lab. He was extremely enthusiastic and independent with helping to design and set-up the project and I was very impressed at how motivated and capable he is. I had not planned to advertise a project in my lab but he had the initiative to approach me directly and because he was an exceptional student, I was extremely happy that he wanted to pursue a project with me. When comparing him to other students in his cohort I would place him in the top 5% of all undergraduate students I have tutored and supervised over the past 6 years. He has considerable expertise in psychological research methods, statistics and theory.
Robbie is also an excellent writer as evidenced by several awards for his writing and from my experience of reading his essays written for social, developmental and cognitive psychology. These essays were always set with a very short deadline of only a couple of days, yet he was still able to complete them on time and to a very high standard. Robbie clearly has a passion for psychology and philosophy and has been proactive in gaining relevant experience outside of university, which is impressive. He is also the only undergraduate student from his cohort that I have seen attend a department seminar, using his free time to further his knowledge about psychology, neuroscience and decision-making more broadly.
As well as being intellectually outstanding, Robbie is a kind and helpful person and a real pleasure to work with and to get along with. He is genuinely caring and thoughtful and would make an exceptional tutor.I was Robbie's supervisor and tutor during his degree at the University of Oxford.
