About Mary

Hi! I’m a middle school English teacher in Scotts Valley with a degree in English and Secondary Education from North Park University and 4 years of experience in tutoring and education. I offer friendly, personalized support with English, writing, reading, and general study skills. My goal is to help students feel more confident and successful in school.

About the lesson

I’m excited to help students feel confident and prepared for the SAT Reading and Writing section! Lessons will focus on reading comprehension, grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, and understanding different types of questions. We’ll work through practice questions together, build helpful strategies, and focus on areas where each student can improve. My goal is to make SAT prep feel approachable, engaging, and manageable!

Mary is an incredible teacher. I always have her help me write my essays, and she gives very good feedback in a kind and helpful way. I’ve seen her help some students who don’t know English very well, and she does a great job teaching them in a way that is helpful and not demeaning. Overall, I highly recommend hiring her. She has a love for the English language and literature that I can’t begin to understand, and a deep care for others and their success.
