About Burcu
Hello, my name is Burcu, and I am passionate about education, History, and helping students reach their academic potential.
I have a strong academic background across the humanities and social sciences. I achieved three A-Levels in History, Sociology, and Criminology, before going on to study Sociology at the University of Surrey, where I graduated with an Upper Second-Class Honours (2:1) degree.
Following my undergraduate studies, I pursued a career in law and completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Law (PGDL) at the University of Law, graduating with a Commendation. My academic journey has given me excellent research, analytical, essay-writing, and critical thinking skills, all of which are essential for success in History.
Having successfully studied essay-based subjects at both A-Level and university level, I understand the challenges students face when it comes to structuring arguments, analysing sources, writing high-quality essays, and preparing for exams. My aim is not only to help students improve their grades but also to build their confidence and develop the skills needed for long-term academic success.
I provide friendly, supportive, and personalised online lessons tailored to each student's needs, whether they are preparing for GCSEs, A-Levels, coursework, or examinations. Together, we will work on strengthening subject knowledge, improving exam technique, and achieving your academic goals.

Teaching Methodology
My teaching approach is tailored to each student's individual needs, strengths, and areas for improvement. During our first lesson, I will take the time to get to know the student, understand their academic goals, and identify any challenges they may be facing. Lessons focus on developing historical knowledge, essay-writing skills, source analysis, critical thinking, and exam technique. Students will regularly complete practice essay questions and exam-style tasks, which I will review and provide detailed feedback on to help them improve and build confidence.
Lesson Length
Lessons are typically 60 minutes long, although longer sessions can be arranged if required.
Qualifications and Experience
I achieved an A grade in A-Level History and have a strong understanding of the skills needed to succeed at both GCSE and A-Level. I am passionate about helping students improve their understanding of History and develop the analytical and writing skills needed to achieve top grades.
