About Fiona
I am a fully qualified Maths teacher with a first degree in Maths and a PGCE Secondary Maths qualification from the University of Cambridge (2009). I have worked as a full-time Maths teacher in both the private and state sectors. All schools I have worked for have rated me as good/outstanding. As a teacher, I have got concerned over the quality of extra tuition that students receive so I have left full-time teaching to provide better quality tuition. I have always taught to enable understanding, it is very important that you understand methods and how they work in order to achieve well at Mathematics. Students comment on my ability to explain in different ways and I have taught all levels over the past 13 years. I am also an Examiner for the GCSE and A Levels and lead a team of examiners helping to ensure exams are marked correctly and decide how marks are to be awarded. This ensures my tutoring is relevant and up to date and makes me the best tutor for exam students. I have developed my online tutoring to be student-focused with resources shared and created unique to the student. We create virtual cue cards and these can all be accessed from their phones. Through my work as a sixth form tutor, I work with students to develop their own revision skills and ensure they get the most out of their learning experience. I am also able to help with applications to universities. I am an outgoing and fun individual and I enjoy travelling and skiing in my spare time and holidays. Fi has been tutoring my son for over three years and she’s been incredible. He’s in higher set at achievement if two 8’s in maths and statistics, prompting us to continue with fi throughout his maths a level.
