About Jack
I am a recently qualified maths teacher with 3 years of experience teaching GCSE and A-Level maths (including A-Level Statistics, and A-Level Further Maths) in Sixth Form Colleges. In this time I have taught over 300 students, helping them to achieve required grades for University courses and apprenticeships, with numerous previous students achieving Oxbridge offers. I have a degree in Maths from the University of Manchester and my specialism is helping previously struggling students to achieve grades 4+ at GCSE.

My primary focus is helping students at the 3/4 and 7/8/9 boundaries of GCSE maths exams, however I also have experience helping students achieve high grades in A-Level Maths, Further Maths and Statistics. When tutoring I encourage my students to complete as much work as possible independently and to then discuss the work with them; addressing the areas in which they were struggling and further exploring topics which they found more approachable to encourage them to be constantly challenged. I understand the importance of passing exams and achieving certain grades so tailor my work with each student so that it is an appropriate level and use lots of previous exam questions to make them feel comfortable and confident when entering their final exams. I follow a Scheme of Work intended to teach the whole course in 1 year, so that students can be confident that they have covered every topic. I expect all of my students to work hard but in return they receive informed and appropriate feedback and encouragement.
