About Kyla
I have taught primary school Math, as well as high school Math. Half the battle is tables and bonds, the other half is getting the hang of it. I have taught Math in South Africa and the UK. I'm familiar with Singapore Math, IEB , CAPS and Cambridge International. I have built up Math skills as a Special needs teacher, a home school tutor and a professional tutor. I have worked with learners from age 5 to age 17. If you keep on going you will get there. I have an average of 20-30 % increase in marks per child per term. I have 10 years teaching/ tutoring experience and have confidence that if you keep on going you will get better at it. I have also studied ways to bridge the gap in your understanding. We can strengthen your weaknesses and build up your confidence.

I usually start by looking at where you first started to struggle at Math, then I do drilling and develop your background skills needed to help you with the concept and methodology you will be learning. That takes up the first half of the lesson. The second half involves explaining how to do a specific method, for example long division. We do one where you watch, two sums I talk you through, Two sums you talk me through doing and then you have a go on your own. We also use storytelling, songs, fingers, and colour to help to remember your steps. I also use computer based drilling and sums to test how much you have learned. We go slowly and it will hopefully boost your skills and confidence.
