About Emily
I have experience tutoring students from grades 1-4 in French.
I have an education degree with an extended French minor.
I was in French immersion from K-12.
I will be starting my teaching practicum next fall and then will be an immersion teacher for elementary students.
I know what students are going through and how stressful it can be to learn a new language, especially if no one else at home speaks it. I’m able to relate to the students and give them encouragement when they feel defeated by their learning achievement/lack thereof.

As a French tutor, I have previously used music as a way to help with oral comprehension and I feel that it’s a great way to learn the language. Music is repetitive and the beat helps students remember not only the vocabulary, but our whole lesson.
I also have a lot of practice helping students with their weekly spelling tests (Dictée) and am able to teach them the proper pronunciation and spelling to help enrich their vocabulary.
I am a huge believer in reading and picturebooks so I love reading to students and asking them questions about the story to evaluate their understanding, as well as getting them to read to strengthen their own oral production and confidence with speaking out loud in the language.
