About James
Having achieved straight A*s in the Sciences and Maths at A-Level, as well straight 9s in a range of sciences and humanities subjects at GCSE, I am well-versed in many different specifications and exam techniques, tailored to a range of exam boards (AQA, Edexcel and OCR). I have been consistently ranked as the top student at one of the best grammar schools in England throughout my secondary studies.
As someone from a single-parent and low-income background, I understand the obstacles that come with academics, and I wish to provide students with all of the advice and lessons I have taken in and learned so that they can fulfil their academic potential as well.

I try to gauge each student's current knowledge and understanding with robust baseline exercises and assessments, allowing me to plan the most effective path to boost their grades to reach the level they are aiming for. This path involves carefully structured lessons that comprehensively cover all the main content and challenge students to tackle the most demanding exam questions, regular assessments, and thorough and clear feedback. I try to encourage students to ask as many questions as possible so that I have a good idea of how they are approaching and thinking about the content they're learning, so that I can guide their processes to become more accurate and efficient to maximise their marks in exams.
I have over two years of tutoring experience in the Sciences and Maths, both at school and at home. This included group and one-on-one tutoring, allowing me to develop a wide set of teaching methods to suit every secondary student.
