About Louise
I’m Louise, a qualified teacher with 26 years’ experience working with young people and a genuine passion for helping students feel more confident in English. During my career I have been an English teacher, Director of English and literacy leader, and I currently work as an AQA GCSE English Language examiner.
One of my greatest strengths is building positive relationships with students, particularly those who may lack confidence or have previously found English difficult. I’m friendly, patient and approachable, but I also have high expectations and want every student to recognise what they are capable of achieving.
After many years in the classroom, I am now keen to work with students on a more individual basis, where I can tailor my teaching to their specific needs rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. Whether a student wants to improve their GCSE grade, prepare for exams, catch up or simply become more confident in English, I want them to leave each lesson feeling that they have made genuine progress.

I am an experienced English teacher with 26 years in secondary education and extensive experience teaching English Language and Literature at KS3 and GCSE. I also work as an AQA GCSE English Language examiner, giving me a strong understanding of exactly what examiners are looking for and how students can improve their responses.
My lessons are supportive, engaging and tailored to the individual student. I particularly enjoy working with students who lack confidence, find English difficult or simply need someone to explain things in a different way. I break skills down into manageable steps, model successful responses and provide clear, practical feedback so students understand both what they need to improve and how to do it.
Lessons are typically one hour and can focus on general English skills, GCSE Language or Literature, exam preparation, essay writing, reading comprehension or specific areas where a student needs additional support.
My aim is to create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes while steadily building their confidence, independence and ability.
