About Benjamin
I am an Exeter University Biological Sciences student. I decided to start tutoring because I remember the tough challenges that A-Level and GCSE Biology present to students, and I want to make sure that all of my students are able to overcome these challenges! Currently in First year, I am already engaging in new research, and seek to inspire tutees to succeed in their A levels and GCSEs, whilst inspiring interest in my students. You learn better when you are enjoying your lessons!
Regarding my hobbies and interests, I have a special interest in Phage Therapy as a tool for solving anti-microbial resistance. Outside of Biology, I play the Piano and the Saxophone and a Jazz enthusiast. I Love going outdoors, Hiking, Cycling and swimming in the sea!

Active Recall and Spaced Repetition are proven, scientific methods for better memory retention and subject understanding. Therefore, whilst reviewing content is critical, learning should not be a passive process. Lessons begin with identifying the student's learning goals and teaching content, followed by active recall, so move new knowledge into long-term memory. this could include flashcards, past paper practice and verbal discussions/quizzes on learned content. I also offer advice on exam technique to make sure that students can efficiently convey understanding to the examiner. I offer emails to Parents after each session so that progress can be tracked to give peace of mind, and to ensure that you are confident in my ability as a tutor.
