About Amir
I’m a GCSE Maths teacher based in Hull with 16 years’ teaching experience.
My background in education has given me a strong understanding of how students learn, where they often lose confidence, and how to rebuild that confidence in a calm and structured way. I work professionally, patiently and clearly, helping students feel supported while still challenging them to make progress.
I care about making GCSE Maths feel less intimidating. My goal is for students to feel more confident, better prepared and more able to approach exam questions with a clear plan.
I also hold a current DBS check and take safeguarding and professionalism seriously.

My lessons are built around finding the exact point where a student gets stuck.
In many GCSE Maths questions, there may be 5, 6 or 7 steps needed to reach the final answer. If a student is confident with step 1 but gets stuck at step 2, we do not just keep repeating the whole question. We pause at step 2, break it down, practise it carefully, and then rebuild it back into the full method.
Once that step is secure, we move forward. If another step causes difficulty later, we do the same again: isolate it, fix it, then practise the whole question from the beginning so the method becomes connected and fluent.
This helps students understand not only what to do, but exactly where their thinking goes wrong and how to correct it.

My current rate is an introductory rate while I build my tutoring profile.
All lessons include preparation, teaching resources and follow-up guidance where needed. I offer GCSE Maths lessons online and in Hull, with in-person lessons available within a reasonable travel distance depending on availability.
There are no additional charges for standard lesson materials.
