About Alice
Hi, I'm Alice, a GCSE science tutor and Clinical research practitioner.
I have a degree in Biomedical Sciences, and have worked in Surgery, Genetics, Cancer and Infectious diseases.
I have strong professional relationships with my pupils and their parents having tutored several students across 3 year+ time spans (year 8-11).
I have no dependents or pets and don't smoke.
I accept lesson requests with start times between 17:00-19:00 on weekdays, and anytime on Sundays.
I currently have 2 students, and have managed up to 4 simultaneously. I recommend between 1 and 3 hours of tutoring per week.

My lessons are between an hour to 2 hours long, and I use Microsoft Teams/ Google classroom if online.
If over an hour long I give students a short break in the middle that is not included in lesson time to help keep focus.
I have a BSc with Honours degree in Biomedical Sciences, and took A level Chemistry, Biology, and English Literature, and AS level Physics.
I have 7 years worth of GCSE AQA science tutoring experience, and have tutored 6 students and my 2 younger siblings.
I focus on ensuring students have the necessary approach and deeper level understanding to be able to answer any question thrown at them.
In the 1st lesson, I take notes to get a clear view of my pupils current level, their weaknesses, and their goals.
I also use "explain" questions from past papers and work through the questions with the student to gauge their speed at picking up new information and using multiple facts to work out overall answers to questions.
I then tailor my lessons specifically to the student, based on how long they have till their exams.
Upon request I can also provide additional scientific/maths notes for my students based on what they need extra time to look over and complete marking of practice tests.
When marking tests, I take the time to properly explain how to answer blanks or incorrect answers, giving much more detail than a mark scheme.
I use google classroom to track progression, and this also makes it very easy for pupils and parents to see homework, grades, notes, and to ask questions about specific tasks.
Because I have no dependents and am free from 5pm, on weekdays, I am often able to provide flexibility on shorter notice compared to several other tutors. I will be open and honest about your child's progress and am happy to rework scheduling/hours on shorter term basis if needed (eg offering extra hours close to major exams or providing marking only services at a decreased cost during revision heavy time periods).

We also went through past papers and I completed work between each session and which massively helped. My final GCSE grade was a grade 6 (B) and I would never have been able to achieve that without her help!
