About Jade
I taught GCSE-level maths in London schools for over 5 years, qualifying as an “excellent” teacher after a successful career as a Chartered Chemical Engineer. I have been tutoring online and in person for two years, and I am currently based in Bristol. I understand that one grade difference can change the direction of your/your child’s future, and I endeavour to help identify GCSE mathematics knowledge gaps and close them. As a teacher, I understand that some students require additional time, alternative explanations or extra practice on certain topics. I try to link our lessons with the class lessons as much as possible, whilst focusing on exam outcomes. I am friendly, encouraging and positive, but also fairly direct, focused on improving your/your child’s problem-solving ability and breaking down difficult topics into easy steps. I have helped students with a target grade of 4 achieve up to a grade of 8 on their final exam.

I am familiar with the Edexcel, AQA and OCR exam boards and marking schemes. A typical lesson with me would look like this: • starter to revise previous learning • identify gaps • work on closing gaps/topic-specific lessons • review learnings, set homework (if required) and what we will do in the next lesson I thoroughly enjoy seeing the progress my students make.
