About Robert
Robert McCormack is a Scottish artist who engages in education, develops studio-based outputs, and coordinates grassroots arts projects. Robert holds a BA (Hons) in Painting and Printmaking from The Glasgow School of Art and an alt/MA in Contemporary Art Practice from the New Art School, Glasgow. He was tutored by Karla Black. He is currently undertaking a post-graduate diploma in Education from the University of Glasgow.
Roberts’s work draws upon queer theory and pedagogy with a particular focus on the intersection between children and pets. The work often manifests as process-driven installations encompassing drawing, sculpture, and performance.
In 2021 Robert co-coordinated Gradate Drive Thru, an exhibition held in the top story of a Glasgow car park as part of the upcoming Glasgow Open House Arts Festival. He was the co-curator of Open Cut, a group exhibition held in Transmission Gallery, Glasgow as part of the Wunderkammer project with Artist Aeji Seo. Robert recently received the RSA Kinross Travel Scholarship to Florence which he will undertake when it is safe to do so. Robert works with people with additional support needs in high schools which supports and informs his practice. Recently Robert has worked as a freelancer for the learning team at Jupiter Artland and facilitated workshops for the Glasgow School of Art.
