About Leah
I’m a graduate of Goldsmiths University, London, where I earned my BA in Drama and Theatre Arts. My degree gave me a deep understanding of both the creative and theoretical aspects of theatre, from acting and directing to production management, dramaturgy, and scenography. I was trained to think critically and engage with theatre not just as an art form, but as a tool for social and cultural change. I want to teach because I’m passionate about passing on the skills and knowledge that I’ve gained, and inspiring others to explore their own creative potential. Theatre is such a powerful medium for self-expression, collaboration, and storytelling, and I believe it’s important for students to develop both their technical abilities and their critical thinking. By teaching, I hope to help others become confident, bold, and versatile theatre-makers, capable of using their work to challenge norms and reflect on the world around them. Having been shaped by a programme that emphasises politically engaged, socially relevant theatre, I want to foster an environment where students feel empowered to experiment and find their own voices. My goal is to create a space where they can explore diverse theatre practices, work collaboratively, and gain the skills they need to thrive in the dynamic world of contemporary performance.

I am adept at both the creative and analytical aspects of theatre-making, with a deep understanding of how to integrate theory and practice in the development of performance. My degree's focus on socially, culturally, and politically engaged theatre-making allows me to approach teaching with a holistic and inclusive mindset, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for my students. I am passionate about empowering others to explore their own creative potential, whether they are interested in devised theatre, performance theory, or exploring the history and cultural diversity of theatre practices. Through clear communication, hands-on guidance, and a personalised approach, I aim to help students develop not only their technical skills but also their critical thinking and confidence as performers, directors, and theatre-makers.
