About Joseph
Hello! My name is Joseph, and I am a current student at UCLA looking to pursue a career in academia and become a professor. I have been an elementary and middle school teacher's assistant for two years and a learning assistant and peer student tutor for college-level classes for one year. I pride myself on my deep understanding of STEM subjects and my ability to teach STEM confidently to others. However, I also understand the struggle of not being able to understand complex topics, which is why personalized education is so important. Personalized education gives students the opportunity to receive one-on-one guidance and achieve a higher degree of understanding. As a tutor, my teaching approach is centered around mastery of a topic. Every student is unique, so I tailor my methods to suit their learning styles.
My methods revolve around breaking down topics into digestible parts and teaching students to apply what they've learned through practice. I use customized resources, including visual aids, analogies, diagrams, and videos, to enhance understanding.
A Typical Hour Lesson Plan consists of:
Introduction (5-10 minutes): Quick review of previous lessons and discussing the objectives for the session.
Core Lesson (20-30 minutes): Exploring the main topic with examples and interactive discussions.
Practice (15-20 minutes): Solving problems or applying concepts through exercises, guided practice, or mini-projects.
Recap & Questions (5-10 minutes): Summarizing key points and addressing any doubts to reinforce learning as well as take home assignments.
