About Ishani
Literature has always had a reputation for being boring, especially the classics. I say, it’s boring if you haven’t had the chance to really figure out what it’s about. It is said that all the best books tend to start slow and a little tedious. Once you get past that, you’ll never be able to put that book down. And media, who doesn’t want to dig deeper into the intricacies of what makes our favourite celebrities our favourite celebrities, right? It’s a rare occasion to turn an assignment into a fangirling project. I did that with my dissertation on Taylor Swift, and I got a medal for it! Literature is far more magical than people can let on, and media is far more fun than you realise. Let’s discover that together, shall we?

My priority when teaching students is to engage with their own strengths and weaknesses. No two students have the same study pattern, and I want to cater to what makes you learn the best. Perhaps you’re not a big reader, and prefer audiobooks or film- I would try my best to cater each lesson to your needs. Each 1-hour lesson will begin with your thoughts on the course material, what you like, dislike, understand, and don’t understand. Once you’ve got that down pat, I’ll guide you through the foundation points, and then you’ll take over the learning. It’s very student-driven but I’m here to help anytime you’re stuck. I’ve got a year of teaching experience under my belt as an undergraduate TA for literature, and I’m comfortable working with high schoolers and undergrads who are looking to either be in literature or media, or are struggling with these courses and just need a little nudge.
